Beowulf!

Just got in from seeing Beowulf with Grant, his little brother (Scott, I think), Ben, one of Ben's friends (Kurt?) and Paul. I liked the movie, overall.

My favorite things were A. Hey, 3D! Sweet! It was effing awesome. B. Hey, Princess Buttercup! Where've you been? C. DRAGON! D. Hey, naked people! Only not quite. Curse you conveniently placed props!

My least favorite moment--Beowulf tries to stab the dragon's heart. He can't reach with his dagger, so he cuts off his arm to get more reach. It was getting in the way, anyway. Then, he drops the dagger. After that, he just reaches in with his hand and rips its heart out. But he lost 1.5 feet of reach when he dropped the dagger. Grar! I'll accept magic and the fact that Anthony Hopkins + Angelina Jolie evil water demon = creepy strong but still pretty pathetic Grendel and Beowulf + Angelina Jolie evil water demon = DRAGON, but if he couldn't reach it with the dagger he couldn't reach in and rip the heart out.

Overall, it was worth seeing. I'd recommend it. It was more fun than reading it, hands down.

As to the ending, the big question is, does he sleep with her, too? Or not? My vote is no--he was secretly in love with Beowulf and therefore able to resist the watery hotness.
