Helping with Triangulation!

Our friend Pete is the editor of a pretty cool local anthology called Triangulation. I submitted to it last year, and that's how Paul and I got into contact with our writing group in the first place. Last year's theme was "The End of Time" this years is "Taking Flight." This year, I get to help!!! I'm very excited. I haven't worked on a magazine since Baily's Beads, and believe it or not I miss it. And this year I'm A. not in charge! and B. only working with people I like! No Dara or Brittany or that pompous asshole guy whose name I can't remember, no Nancy... the list could easily go on.

The whole thing makes me very happy.

Trying to get healthy! And other stuff.

Today is day four of my new workout regime. Essentially, my goal is do to something physical every day. So far I've been focusing on my belly dance workout video and DDR. I threw a few push ups and sit ups the other day, too. My grandmother is bringing me a ski machine that we're going to set up in the basement, so hopefully I'll have enough cardio things to keep me going without getting bored. I'm also doing really well keeping hydrated, and I really think that is a big reason why I'm not getting my normal winter cold. Two and a half liters a day. Go me.

Today was my first day of feng shui class, and it really got me motivated to clean the apartment. I was really into feng shui in high school, and I'm happy to be learning more about it. It's really cool. I even vainly tried to sort of feng shui my college dorm rooms, but that didn't work out too well. Hopefully I'll be able to manage it here, because Paul and I are probably going to be staying in this apartment for a while.

I also signed up for a bunch of cool new workshops. I am going to be super therapist. Seriously, I think I'll have half again more credit hours than most other therapists I know. But then, it's paid for, and I'm getting the most out of that that I can.

We finished Full Metal Alchemist with Grant. I really enjoyed it. I'm not quite sure what I think of the ending, with the movie. It does wrap a lot of things up, but I don't know what I think of Ed and Al being where they are. And poor Winry... If you haven't seen it, I'm not going to spoil it. You should watch it.

In other cool news, I got my Christmas present from Lance, and it's absolutely fabulous. He got me a collection of holiday movies, including Frosty, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and my very favorite, Rudolph, plus a few others that I haven't seen before. I'm excited to have a Christmas movie marathon!

The Golden Compass

Justin, Paul, and I went to see it last night. Justin and I have both read the books. Paul has not.

It was okay. Not as good as I was hoping, but not terrible. Not anywhere near The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

My biggest complaint is the ending. I guess they wanted to end on a high note instead of the terribly low note that the first book ends on. Things I liked were the cool effects and Lyra not being as annoying as she was in the first book. I am looking forward to the second movie, mostly because the second book was when I started caring about what was going on.

After the movie, Justin took us out for Indian food and we gave him his Christmas present. Yay present!

Blurry Engagement Ring Photo

I really need manual focus to get a nice picture of it, I think, and I can't be bothered to figure out how it works right now. I'll do it eventually, maybe when it's sunny outside so I can get some pics of it in the sunlight, because sunlight makes it even prettier.
